Sidecar for Spitfire Pilots

We were surprised and delighted when a customer contacted us and asked to have a sidecar fitted to their CCM Spitfire.

CCM had been building bikes in Bolton since 1971, and their limited editions of Spitfire range of bobbers and cafe racers had sold strongly, albeit in small numbers. Until now we hadn't fitted any sidecars to their bikes and when they sadly entered administration in June, we assumed that was the end of the story. 

Fortunately the owner of this fine machine - number 206 of 500 - decided that our lightweight Prescott sidecar would be the perfect partner for his 600cc Spitfire Bobber.  

Our engineering team set to work and found that the Spitfire's tubular steel frame made it relatively straightforward to find suitable mounting points for the sidecar arms. 

The Prescott seems especially suitable for the Spitfire, since it has aeronautical links – the original version was made using surplus RAF drop tanks from Mosquito fighter-bombers!
